Not so bad after all

Crrrk! I struggled to free my foot from the mud. Icky, slimy, yucky mud  was stuck to my shoe. It felt if it was fighting through my shoe  to get my foot wet.

On Friday last week Pt England School had their 2012 cross country.  We all gathered on our school court and was put into our age groups. Everybody was also put in a house group. I was in Mataatua, all of the Mataatua wore green to support our house. House leaders made cheers and wore their house colours too like Takitimu yellow, Tainui blue, Te Arawa red and Mataatua Green.

When it was our turn to run I felt excited because I just couldn’t wait until I finished. All of us was standing on the starting point waiting until Mr Burt said on ‘’your mark, get set’’ CLAAP! as he claps the clapper. That meant for us to go. Everyone was running on a slow pace around the fields until we arrived at the reserve. People was struggling to run because their feet were stuck to the mud and was hard to run and move.

Me and Nezinli was running together. We jogged across the reserve and came out through the bush walk. Nezinli and I past a lot of mud puddles and slippery concrete. We tried our best to keep up and finish with a good placing.  I crossed the line first then he followed.

I think I done well coming 9th. I done my very best

Thank you to Miracle for checking my work.

  1. Hey Tui,

what a awesome post about the cross country, it must have been quite hard competing against other changellengers.

    Keep up the good work
